About Customer:

Hoot Judkins is a California based thriving furniture brand that was started in 1962 by a man named Hoot Judkins in San Francisco and is now owned by Bob Watson and their family. This brand features a bedroom, living room, dining room, kids, bookcases, and outdoor furniture in contemporary, mission, traditional, amish, and handcrafted furniture. They also offer custom furniture and custom finishing.

For over 59 years, “Hoot” Judkins has offered an extensive collection of furniture, made mostly in the USA, from real wood and finished with low VOC products. They also specialize in upholstered and wood furniture that is entirely made in California, resulting in the most finishing standards and most strict manufacturing in the world.

Business Need and Client’s
Goals:

The customer used a Drupal and Ubercart built ecommerce solution for so long, but with the rise of Magento they were looking to migrate over so that they could utilize the features of the platform. Having undergone a big brand transformation, they wanted to have a robust, smooth, and sophisticated eCommerce experience for their growing business. For this, they needed a partner to help them to move their business forward digitally.

Inspired by our premium design portfolio, they enlisted Rock Technolab’s help to give their eCommerce store a complete makeover with advanced features and some custom integrations. Top of their ecommerce wishlist was a streamlined user experience, the integration of a Review system, Furniture custom shipping and assembling calculation, ERP, and Custom product options calculation management. When it came to designing, they wanted a polished, simple website site that helps to engage customers and grow online sales.

Challenges:

The client wanted a simple, elegant, and modern website look that would actually attract new customers and drive eCommerce with better presentations of products.

The B2C furniture eCommerce industry was very competitive, and giving a dynamic interactive storefront was not enough to win a battle.

Satisfying the needs of the customer by providing a lot of advanced features to them was the biggest hurdle with a lot of choices and options.

Based on our analysis we found, that we needed to implement various customizations, integration, and 3rd party extensions like ERP/POS to manage the inventory of their business, product review system, integration of custom shipping and furniture assembling calculation, etc. That was a complicated task as it includes a lot of customization and integrations.

Solutions:

We helped them to develop a newly upgraded eCommerce store for their customers and led them to have a new technology partner who can help them and advise them whenever required regarding their project or any other Magento-based queries. We come through with their thorough understanding of business requirements and created a detailed plan of anticipated business process flow. The above-mentioned challenges had been easily handled in the most mature way.

Being fully aware of the differences between the Drupal, Ubercart, and Magento 2 platforms, we understand that migration more or less implies building a new website from scratch.   • Optimize website speed after migration.
  • Carefully monitored the whole migration and development process to ensure design quality and integrity throughout the whole project.

In order to process these tasks smoothly and in a timely manner, we made a backup of the website’s data to keep every byte safe. Then, we started the migration from the previous website to Magento 2.

Final Result:

We provided a dynamic solution and it took us around 700 hrs (Almost 16 weeks of work) for the whole process of migration, customization, and integration – from the beginning to designing, developing, testing, and going live with the Magento 2 website.

All customer, product, categories, sales, order data, and configuration settings were fully migrated to the new website. We also integrated Magento 2 with the POS system, Review System, Tag Manager, and Shipping Management System. Enhanced functionality and custom extensions developed for Hoot Judkins Magento 2 website have also helped to boost the conversion rate and improve website performance.
