Client’s Needs:
Detroit team were looming for some crucial requirements for their website maintenance and development project as they have encountered with several issues that need immediate attention.
Foremost, they needed various site maintenance tasks related to navigation menu issues and various content-related problems across multiple pages. These issues were impacting the user experience and need to be resolved immediately to ensure smooth navigation and consistent content presentation on the Detroit website.
Another significant concern was related to the mobile view of their store, specifically regarding the search box functionality as it was expected to work, and this was drastically affecting the usability of the website on smaller as well as larger screens. They demanded this issue be addressed and fixed to provide a seamless experience, especially for our mobile users.
Furthermore, they were looking for overall structural changes to the website. It means transitioning from a staging site to a live site, and later on, while the Rock Technolabs team was working on Detroit at that time, this transition was handled smoothly to ensure that their customers continued to access the site without any technical glitches and issues.
Lastly, their most crucial requirement was related to compatibility, so we need to make sure that the live store is compatible with the latest PHP version 8.1. Upgrading to this version is essential for security, performance, and performance reasons.
Challenges:
We are proud to say that we faced a number of challenges while working on Detroit sites; our expert Magento developers traversed all of them; some of them were facing issues with navigation while changing the site structure, as the categories in the menu were not showing even after adding all of them to the admin panel, and frontend issues was happening because even after updating the content is was not visible properly.
If we talk about the search box, it did not display all the options, for which we checked for errors in indexing and cleared the cache. Also, go through various settings in the catalogue, in addition, tried various extensions that would be suitable for the search option.
Of all the challenges we encountered, the biggest one was changing the site structure and moving the staging site to live as our Magento developers came across issues related to JS/CSS loading; either JS/CSS goes to 404, or the wrong path shows for the pub directory. Additionally, we were facing performance issues, and their server was taking too much response to respond as the codes were causing a large load on the server, so we optimized it.
Moreover, we had gone through all third-party modules to solve various issues related to that as they were slowing down the site speed. Plus, checked which module is required and which one of them is not necessary to be activated on the site. Plus, to match the compatibility with PHP 8.1, we have upgraded all the modules we were using for the website.
Some other problems we were facing were delayed JavaScript initialization on scroll/touch/mouseover, HTML minification, 301 redirect, database and more.
Solutions:
There is no hesitation in claiming that our developers are India’s best Magento developers because while working on this project, they have undertaken a comprehensive array of very complicated and challenging tasks to enhance the overall functionality, performance and user experience of our client’s e-commerce website. From tackling search page issues to executing content updates, our team has diligently addressed various maintenance tasks.
One of the critical challenges we resolved was the mobile view search not working, followed by successfully leveraging a 3rd party module, ensuring that the website’s search functionality is seamless and users can search different vehicles, according to the year and model. Plus, we make the site completely mobile-optimized by compressing various files, working on server configuration, and prioritized lighter designs for mobile users.
Furthermore, we transformed the complete site by revamping the entire structure of the existing live site. This overhaul involved introducing innovative advanced features and reorganizing the page structure to create a fresh and dynamic online presence. In addition to this, we created category and subcategory pages, optimized all the pages for SEO, including meta title, meta description, heading text, designed XML sitemap for web crawlers, and did internal linking with various pages.
Our dedicated team was focused on making the website compatible with PHP 8.1, a crucial step to ensure the website remains secure, efficient, and up to date. Besides these major initiatives, we are also committed to ongoing minor maintenance tasks to guarantee that the live site continues to operate smoothly and meets the evolving requirements of our client.
