Being based in Switzerland, they are not burdened by additional taxes or duties, which enables them to offer cigars at reasonable prices.
Their Cigars possess a unique mystique, quality, and flavors, plus they assist their customers in choosing the finest Cuban cigar. Through their user-friendly online store, they strive to provide their clients with cigar-related knowledge that is not available on other cigar websites. Ultimately, their goal is to create the most comprehensive lexicon of words and phrases related to cigars (Cigars A to Z).
You can easily explore almost 30 brands on their sites, including Bolivar, Cohiba, Cuaba, H.Uupmann, Juan Lopez, Partagas, and many more. Moreover, they also offer cigar accessories and limited editions too.
Client’s Needs:
The Cubar Cigars Team was in search of a company capable of assisting them in achieving a higher ranking on search engine results pages (SERPs). This required the execution of various tasks and thorough optimization of their website. Plus, there were many other maintenance tasks that needed to be performed on the site for better conversion and sales rates. They want all their URL to be rewritten with targeted keywords, lowercase letters, and a proper structure.
Most of their maintenance task was related to the integration of 3rd party payment methods and the migration of the site from one server to another, which involved various multi-step procedures and was a very tedious task for Rock Technolabs’ developers. Plus, they were asked for Google schema in all their product listing pages so that Google’s bot can easily understand it and their site ranks higher.
Besides this, there was a need to update various data which was related to SEO on the Cuban Cigar site, for instance, putting the Alt text, reducing the image size and content with headings, making various changes at the configuration level, optimizing the CMS page, and much more such small but time taking task.
Challenges:
As most of the work was related to SEO so, it was quite challenging because SEO encompassed numerous tasks. The biggest challenge we were facing was related to slow loading speed, which resulted in a higher bouncing rate; plus, there were other Magento SEO issues like product tags, and title tags were poorly optimized because there were multiple variations of the same products.
One of the major issues was that the site was not properly optimized for mobile SEO. Google’s algorithm follows mobile-first indexing, which refers to it permanently using the mobile version of websites for indexing and ranking, and if a website is not properly optimized for mobile, it will ultimately lead to lower traffic, thus low conversions.
The most time-consuming task was URL optimization and rich snippets because Magento can produce duplicate product categories or product URLs that need to be blocked via Robots.txt and should be monitored, whereas, for rich snippets, Magento 2 websites only display ratings and reviews for which we used extension to create a proper rich snippet that have more information about the product.
Besides this, another issue was linked with moving the site from one server to another, which, after moving kind of displayed sluggish performance, for which we ran a Magento compilation; hence, it boosted the speed by 20%.
Solutions:

Firstly, we wrote content for many pages of Cuban Cigar, as content plays a crucial role in SEO; the word limit in almost all the product pages was very low, resulting in thin content issues. Plus, there was some duplicate content on their site, which was removed and placed with new sentences and paragraphs; also, for some pages, we used the canonical tag option.
Additionally, we wrote the metadata (meta title, meta description, and meta keywords) within the optimal character limit. We generated an XML sitemap for the site so that all the web pages must be indexed by search engines. We optimized all the images on the site with Alt text, and our developers did some advanced settings related to SEO.
Furthermore, there were some 404 pages not found on the site, which could be a disappointment for the customers so as per the requirement, we permanently and temporarily redirected the pages. In the end, we went through our checklist of all the SEO criteria, so there wouldn’t be the omission of any critical SEO criteria. All our hard work and efforts resulted in a 65.5% improvement in performance as compared to the audit results we got when we started execution on this project.
Final Result:

For Cuban Cigars, we didn’t work as a development agency; instead, we worked for them as a marketing & tech department, which ultimately resulted in 108% more traffic; now the load speed is 4 seconds less, and the bounce has almost decreased by 76%.
