About Customer:
Barefoot Books is an award-winning, independent, women-owned and run, children’s publisher based in Concord, MA. Barefoot Books creates carefully crafted children’s books & gifts that spark imagination, exploration, and creativity.
Founded by two mothers, Nancy Traversy and Tessa Strickland in England in 1992. Our mission is to share stories, connect families and inspire children. In 2017, we were named by Forbes as one of the 25 Best Small Companies in America.
Client’s Needs:
Before contacting us, Barefoot Books had set some goals for their website customization. The goals:
- Develop custom inventory report.
- Detail Backend report
- Frontend customization of contributors
- And many other functionalities which are not provided by Magento default functionality
- To include a Contributor commission custom module and its report.
- Asked to add referral information customization.
Challenges:
The client was facing issues at the operational level and looked for the Magento team with deep knowledge and highly experienced to solve their challenges with proper solutions.
- The existing system used by the client was not scalable as it was developed using an old stack of technologies
- The core component i.e. custom inventory report and detailed back-end report was missing.
- The biggest obstacle faced by the client was the functionalities that are not provided by Magento default functionality.
- Other issues include manually monitoring the contributors, performance issues, Referral information customization, Seller Profile issues, detailed reports not generating, etc.
Solutions:
At the start of the project, we conducted a competitive analysis to find out how detailed reports are required, what are the expectations with the custom modules, what their website is missing, and what improvements can be made from our end.
With that idea in mind, we knew we should opt to perform the following to customize the Barefoot Book website workflow and allow space for future business growth with the new functionalities and customization:
- Interface to manage contributors
- Inventory report
- Custom checkout fields
- Profile picture functionality at my account
- My Events (frontend custom module and custom report)
- Store Credit report
- Contributor commission custom module and its report
- Seller profile
- Custom order detail report
- Affiliate Aggregation
- Encrypted banking report – add filters to the grid
- Referral information customization
- And many more customization…
Final Result:
We provided a dynamic solution, and it took us around 2000+ hrs and 2 dedicated developers to work on the whole process of customization, and integration with the Barefoot Books website.
Through our custom modules and implementations, we enhanced the website features and functionalities as per the client’s expectations. The website is now live, with a seller panel and a separate interface for contributors, allowing them to have access to their panel while on the go.
