Shopify Editions Summer 2022

Shopify releases new updates twice a year and the Summer’22 is out on 22 June 2022 highlighting 100+ product updates and a lot more across all of Shopify. This latest release by Shopify Editions focuses on “Connect to Consumer” or C2C. It is, most of the updates and announcements help merchants build a better connection with their customers.

The new updates and features of the platform are focused on converting the shoppers, expanding the consumer base, building stronger relationships with consumers, making online moves easy for local merchants, and scaling and building the store even more efficiently than ever before.

Shopify Editions: New Features in 2022

Built for Shopify

Build great commerce apps with Built for Shopify as it includes new App Design Guidelines and Standards with visuals and clear components for building an app. When apps meet Shopify’s new standards, they’ll be eligible to be featured on our highest converting surfaces.

Shopify Functions

With Shopify Functions, you are flexible to extend or replace native Shopify server-side business logic to meet the unique business needs of merchants.

Shopify Markets

Previously only available by application, Shopify Markets is now available to all merchants. You can set up international pricing for your key focus markets (for example USD prices for customers in the US), which should help to increase conversion in those markets, plus tax and duty collection has been streamlined. There are more features coming soon, including custom content and international inventory management.

Shopify Audiences

Shopify Audiences is a new app that helps you find your next best and ideal future customer. Shopify’s unique view on purchase intent and merchant network help identify buyers who are looking for your products. Create and export high-interest audiences to add platforms like Facebook. High conversion rates, better performing ads.

Tokengated Commerce

Tokengated Experiences, allowing fans to connect their crypto wallets and unlock personalized benefits. Build stronger communities and reward your people. Unlock exclusive shopping experiences with NFTs, such as early access to drops, merchandise, IRL experiences, and cool collabs.

Shop Pay Enhancements

Neutralize your shipping emissions, purchase carbon offsets with Shop Pay, and use storefront badging to display your commitment to potential shoppers with new sustainability updates.

Data Protection

Shopify takes your privacy very seriously. They totally understand how sensitive information about customers is, and strive to protect customer data as well as possible. The key goal is to ensure you have complete control over your data and remain completely protected at all times.

This feature is released especially to take control over apps that can access the personal data of customers. To help you build apps more safely and securely, Shopify has made essential changes in the data protection segments. All customers’ personal data will be redacted by default by APIs and allow you to apply for necessary access to customer personal information throughout the life of your app.

Discount Combinations

It wasn’t possible to combine discounts before, which meant that you couldn’t offer 10% off AND free shipping, or have automatic bundle offers that also worked with your welcome discount for new subscribers. That’s changing now though, and over the next few weeks Shopify will be rolling out this functionality to all users.

Search and Discovery App

Customizable search, product recommendations, and filtering products will help you to increase conversions as your customers can easily find products they love at the moment.

Customer Engagement Tool
