Pumpbiz has a wealth of experience in the pumping industry and applications of extensive variety of pump categories. Client’s Needs:

The brand operating on the Magento 1.9 version limited their scope of work on the website and hired us to migrate the whole website with critical improvements to the Magento 2.2 version for better scalability and to leverage the latest technology, which also aids in reducing the data inconsistency and the unnecessary load on the server.

There was so much at the backend to improve the website front store for better user experience, such as adding the shipping plugins to order quickly, various categories of pumps in the database, maintenance of the functionality of current plugins, template customization, and other such technicalities that was working as hindrance. Many other important features were lacking too, like most of the images were without links to get the additional details of products, improvement of product comparison feature which was more potent in Magento 2.2 version.

All the above reasons were sufficient for proper configuration of all the required settings with migration. Rock Technolab team’s goal was to upgrade Pumpbiz platform with the latest version, incredible user experience, storefront with all the necessary tools to navigate easily, installation of useable plugins, improve series system, and filter result system.

Challenges:

It’s not such an easy task to migrate all the data from Magento 1.9 to Magento 2.2, which is done using data migration tool; however, this tool only transfers data, themes, and customized storefronts can’t be migrated using this tool. In addition to this, it is a time taking process to complete this task correctly and error-free without missing anything in between. Before doing the actual migration, we have to follow a few processes, including analysis of store, checking the compatibility, and removal of unnecessary and outdated data.

The biggest issue that arises while migration is the traffic that could lead to loss of conversions on the website, which requires going through technical SEO analysis before starting the migration process that involves analysis of google analytics & google search console and fixing of other errors. We also needed to improve the search from the best possible search engine options available for Pumpbiz ecosystem so that customers find the product he/she is required to purchase. Plus, all it takes a long process of complete migration that usually consists of four phases for proper functionality and enhanced shopping experience: theme migration, extension migration, customization and data migration.

Solutions:

After discussing all the requirements from the client’s end and analysing the backend, we started our process of migration, keeping in mind all the other necessary changes. Our expert certified Magento developers take the charge of Pumpbix website and begin the execution of tasks immediately.

We started with various improvements, including the elimination of series attributes by setting series in 2 locations, which could be done using category system in Magento. We did filtration of result system (Customize this for each category (application, mfr and series levels) automatically/ dynamic with configurable order and analyze all pumps in category) by putting them on the sidebar to allow customers to filter results dynamically.

Then we worked on reducing the website load time and followed all the best practices to do so (used a caching system, proper MySQL indexing, auto image optimization, CDN for images and assets, minifying and limiting of both CSS and Javascript), including freight plugin to show freight cost while checking out.

The PDF “attachment” system was terrible in Magento 1.0. It was cumbersome and complex to use, not a part of a series or product admin, so It was hard to add products to an existing pdf and not very intuitive. Magento 2.0 allows for PDFS through their media system. We kept all associations that are now between products and PDFs while making an easy way of adding, also worked on the completion of meta tags for different product info.

Final Result:

Now the website’s storefront looks flawless as it should be. Each category is displayed with all the different items mentioned and links connected to various product pages. A search option is given at the header to find the different product pages by the user. After improving the technicalities the website takes less time to load, all plugins seem to work perfectly and the brand receives real-time orders daily.
